This week has been a busy one for the Marketing team here at Normac. We are proud to have been a platinum sponsor at the IREM Golf Tournament on Tuesday May 16th and the event sponsor for PAMA’s Education Seminar on Wednesday May 17th.
The IREM Golf Tournament, although off to a rocky start with fears of an impending downpour, turned out to be a wonderful day out at the Hazlemere Golf Course. With the sun making welcome appearances, all 136 golfers were able to enjoy the first tournament of the season. Situated at the 18th hole, Normac’s President Cameron Carter and Marketing Coordinator Nicole Daniels mingled with participants and treated them to BKH Jerky samples. Meanwhile Business Development Manager, Margarita Carlos dusted off the cobwebs from her golf bag and attempted the links with guests. The event concluded with a steak buffet dinner and multiple raffle draws, with proceeds going to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The following morning, Normac’s team sponsored an Education Seminar and Lunch hosted by PAMA to learn more about the Civil Resolution Tribunal. Guest speaker Jennifer Neville shared important information about using the CRT, the advantages and disadvantages to strata councils and owners, and as well how Property Managers can both support the properties they work with and protect themselves. Some of the key takeaways included an explanation of the process; how a non-response from a defendant can result in a default decision in favour of the plaintiff. Also, that although the CRT is a web based platform, easily and quickly accessible to all, files can still take up 6 months or longer to be processed. Finally, Neville also reviewed some of the CRT cases, leading to healthy conversation amongst participants on the credibility and fairness of the CRT decisions. You can read more about the CRT in our recent blog post.
Normac is an active associate member of IREM and PAMA and sits on many planning committees to coordinate member engagements, including conferences, golf tournaments, and social gaterings.
From the IREM website: “The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) is an international community of real estate managers dedicated to ethical business practices, maximizing the value of investment real estate, and promoting superior management through education and information sharing.”
From the PAMA website: “The Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1970 to promote professional and ethical residential property management.
